Q. Do Austin Air air purifiers need maintenance?

A. Austin Air air purifiers are designed run continuously with little low maintenance. The outside of the unit should be vacuumed along the lower perforated section at least once a month.

Q. How do I know when the filter in my unit needs replacing?

There are two ways to determine if the filter in an Austin Air unit needs replacing.

1. If the carbon in the unit has reached its capacity and can no longer adsorb pollutants, the air coming from the output will have an unpleasant odor. It will not be overpowering, but will be noticeable. This is not harmful.
2. If the True Medical HEPA paper becomes clogged with particles, the airflow of the machine will be drastically reduced.
